Quaggas News

Dear Quaggas Members,

The day finally arrived to say goodbye... to the park home! I moved to the manager's house this week, affectionately referred to as House X. Having stayed at the park home for almost a year I experienced the full annual cycle from hectic December campers to the absolute peace and spectacular sunsets in July. We'll do some maintenance on the park homes now and start renting them out from September again.

There is much excitement about the Quaggas Fitness Festival taking place on 8 and 9 October. The organisers are finalising the details and the farm managers from Cilmor Winery have been very supportive in planning the mountain bike route across the Cilmor farms. Hope to see you taking part in what is to become an annual event.

Kind Regards

Tobie

Tree Project

South Africa celebrates Arbor Week in the first week of September. The Club has the opportunity to buy 200 trees at R20 per tree. Members can support this project by donating to this worthwhile cause. Please contact us if you would like to sponsor any of these trees.

Recycling Project

The soon to be launched recycling project is the brainchild of one of our members, Kelly Kaye with a passion to keep Quaggas clean and green. The details need to be finalised but the idea is that the club will provide bins in strategic locations for members and campers to drop off their recycling. The Club will deliver the recycling to the local depot which is located next to the municipal dumping site. Keep a lookout for more news about this project.

Kwaggaskloof Dam Level

The dam level has been slow to increase this year and capacity is currently just over 50%. The Department of Water Affairs is concerned about the low rainfall to date and we request homeowners to be diligent with their garden irrigation times and volumes at Quaggas.
