SHOOTING STARS
STAGE 3 DANCE JOURNEY
STOP! Are you needing a way to get your child off electronics?
Would you much rather have them engaging in an activity that is socially, creatively and physically great for them?
I totally get it. They come from school and all they want to do is jump on the iPad to chat with friends or play games. If not that, they would love to spend the afternoon, sitting and doing nothing.
I know you and I know you would prefer for them to be making use of their time after school. You would love for them to be doing something active that is going to stimulate and engage them, as well as build their memory and concentration skills.
You're not alone.
Trust me. I hear this all the time.
So, I decided to devise an intermediate dance curriculum that I know they will adore.
A curriculum that I promise, will:
💎
Ignite confidence
and have them smiling and building awesome friendships
💎
Allow them to express themselves creatively and relieve stress
💎
Support their gross motor skill development and will be exercise they love!
💎
Introduce them to more complex patterns & choreography
"She hasn’t done dance since she was small, so it’s been a lovely re-introduction to a friendly class and lots of fun and confidence building skills.” - Jacqui, mum at Jigsaw
2020 PROGRAM: Ruby
Designed for dancers in Grade 3 - 6 at school
Programs that are thoughtfully planned out, combined with nurturing and gentle teachers who understand different personality types and needs; is what builds trust and connection within the classroom.
WHEN THERE IS TRUST AND CONNECTION
Your child will feel safe enough to engage and interact with their teacher and peers.
When this happens, you will see the shift, as they feel empowered to have a passion and to work hard to improve as a dancer and as a person
"My kid hesitated to join a dance class because she started late for her age. But now she loves every bit of it." - Michael, dad at Jigsaw
The fun and visually exciting routines that they now get to learn, as part of their graduation to the Shooting Star Stage. Those complex and trendy dances they used to see the 'big kids' do - well they now get to learn that too!
Setting goals in their dance diary and working together as a team to kick those goals! We utilise partner work and obstacle courses to make things like strength and stretch training, fun and exciting!
Our WOW weeks which are designed to add more joy into their lessons... Special reward weeks, parent week, love week, colourful dress up, concert prep week... You name it! We have something special planned for each term - their happiness is our priority
Learning an engaging and exciting routine and performing up on the stage twice a year (with a beautiful costume for our End of Year Concert) It is such a relaxed and positive experience for everyone involved
Making new dance besties that support them and lift them up and will equally love the connection they build with their teacher
Our focus on empowering them to dream, have a passion and believe in themselves. We are with them every step of the way and LOVE surprising them with their midyear progress report and certificate as well as their gorgeous trophy at our end of year concert.
The extra holiday events we run that are filled with activities they know and love and build community within the studio. Workshops and Movie Nights, I think yes!
YOU WILL SIMPLY LOVE:
The flexibility and empathy that we offer - we run the studio from the perspective of a busy, everyday parent and know that sometimes things come up and you need to change class or miss a day - that's cool with us!
The regular, organised communication and transparency - we like to give you information up front so you have ample time to plan and know what to expect from the get go. We also think it's important to keep you informed about your child's progress.
That we run our studio on set core values and believe in providing a happy, fun and exciting place to visit. We are happy to answer questions, we won't yell at your kids and we strive to make it as easy and convenient as possible for you.
The stress-free and relaxed concerts that we put on for your dancer's - no sewing, no tricky hair changes, no pressure on your kids and no need for extra days of rehearsals and technical runs (one day is enough!)
THE NITTY GRITTY DETAILS
FIRST YEAR PROGRAM LEVEL
Ruby - Grade at School: Grade 3 - 6
We will be able to guide you as to which class would be perfect for your child. Students are not placed in
classes based primarily on their age, but experience, ability and friends are important factors that can
determine what class is best suited for them.
Our teachers are trained in nurturing each individual child's personality type, ability and overall class dynamics.
CLASS TIMES
We have a variety of class times available to you both during the week and on a weekend; depending on what suits your schedule best. We also have our Ruby classes running at both Hornsby & Wahroonga, to make it more convenient for our families.
CLASS UNIFORM
Just like at school, we have a set uniform in place to promote a sense of belonging, team spirit and allow teachers to correct dancers accurately. We have various options available to suit each style of dance and each students dress preferences. These can all be purchased via the studio, with shoes being the only item needing to be sourced externally.
DANCE EDUCATION COSTS
We try to keep costs as affordable as possible and offer a variety of payment options too. All classes are paid by the term and will be calculated from the week you start with us.
There are 3 main fees for the classes - tuition cost, membership fee & costume payment for the end of year concert. This is broken down for you below in case you wanted to see the year as a whole for planning purposes.

DANCE STUDIOS DON'T HAVE TO BE STRESSFUL
At Jigsaw, you won't have to worry about your little one being taught the 'traditional strict way' and you certainly won't have to worry about us chopping and changing schedules on you.
You will LOVE the simplicity and elegant ease that we offer here at Jigsaw Dance.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ON YOUR 1ST LESSON
When you arrive, we will greet your shooting star and get down to their level to build a connection with them. After many years of experience, we are able to quickly identify each individual child's personality type and will generally be able to assess what they need in that moment of time.
For some children, what is best for them, is simply sitting and watching for a little bit until they feel ready to participate. For others it may be that they are bursting with energy and ready to get started right away. Each child's needs are different and we will work with you to ensure they feel completely comfortable and ready to participate, in their own time.
Throughout the lesson, we will make your child feel really welcome and will pair them up with a dance buddy, we think they will connect with. We always like to make them feel super special and will often be seen complicating each and every dancer. Don't worry if it is their first time - we don't expect them to know the steps yet and will go over everything slowly or teach a brand new combo, so they are never at a disadvantage if they have started later in the year.
Depending on the child, we will usually suggest that parents wait with the other parents outside the room, not only so they can get to know their new dance friends but also so the child can experience the class without getting distracted and so we can see how they respond.
At the end of the class, we will gift your child a special present to say thank you for coming along and will provide you with some more information on how to enrol. Over the week we will be in touch, just to answer any questions you may have and provide feedback about their trial.
