BUDDING STARS

PREP DANCE JOURNEY

Image

Is your toddler always bopping and moving to the music?

Are you seeking an activity you can actively participate in with your child?

I totally get it. Your little one has just started walking and they just cannot stop grooving and wiggling along to every song they hear. You question whether or not you should put them into a dance class and whether they would cope in a new class setting.

Are they too young? Will they join in? Do I have to leave them by themselves?

You're not alone.

Trust me. I hear these concerns all the time.

So, I decided to devise a dance and music program for the littlest of dancers.

A program that I promise, will:

💎

Ignite confidence

and have them smiling and engaging with others

💎

Nurture their imagination and give them a platform to express creativity

💎

Spark gorgeous, supportive friendships, built with love & kindness

💎

Allow a beautiful bond to form between the dancer and carer

"Since our daughter has started dance lessons, she loves it and her confidence has grown.” - Celia, mum at Jigsaw

INTRODUCING OUR
TEENY TOES MY LOVE & ME
Dance & Music Program

This class is the perfect introduction into the world of dance and will give your little one a chance to wiggle their body, stomp their feet and fly like a butterfly using fun and engaging props.

We encourage a loved one, such as mum or dad, to share this journey with them and participate in the class together with the teacher.

As this class is designed for our littlest dancers, we keep a consistent program each week to build familiarity and repetition; thus allowing them to build confidence over the course of the year.

***

This, combined with nurturing and gentle teachers who understand different personality types and needs; is what builds trust and connection within the classroom.

WHEN THERE IS TRUST AND CONNECTION

Your child will feel safe enough to engage and interact with their teacher and peers.

When this happens, you will see the shift, as they run into class with a huge smile on their face; bursting with confidence.

"My daughter is very nervous with new situations, but after the first class she told me to leave the room so she could concentrate. This was an amazing step for our 4 year old and showed the trust and enjoyment the children have with Miss Tash" - Mary, mum at Jigsaw

Over the course of our two-year curriculum
Your little star will;

  • Be introduced to basic Jazz & Ballet technique through a fun and exciting play-based learning setting
  • Build their gross motor skills through a variety of activities - we love being animals, shaking hula hoops and walking on our tippy toes!
  • Form a beautiful bond with their mum, dad, relative or carer
  • Learn how to share, be patient, take turns, use kind words and make positive choices
  • Be introduced to different sounds and music types to begin their understanding of music
  • Learn how to express themselves through dance and creative movement
  • Learn how to actively listen and process instructions
  • Learn how to work as a team
  • Plus so much more!

YOU WILL SIMPLY LOVE:

The flexibility and empathy that we offer - we run the studio from the perspective of a busy, everyday parent and know that sometimes things come up and you need to change class or miss a day - that's cool with us!

The regular, organised communication and transparency - we like to give you information up front so you have ample time to plan and know what to expect from the get go. We also think it's important to keep you informed about your child's progress.

That we run our studio on set core values and believe in providing a happy, fun and exciting place to visit. We are happy to answer questions, we won't yell at your kids and we strive to make it as easy and convenient as possible for you.

Building genuine friendships with the other mums and dads in the class. We often see our families catching up for play dates and this truly warms our heart!

That there is no need for a dance uniform or shoes at this young age. They can simply turn up in whatever they please and dance like no one is watching. There is also no pressure of a concert for our toddlers, instead it simply about them just growing in their confidence and social skills each week.

Generally our dancers stay in this program for 2 years, before moving into our Mini Stars Stage 1 Curriculum, where they participate in the class by themselves.

We will be able to guide you as to what class would be best for them, as it really depends on how ready they are to participate in a class without mum, dad or a carer.

Our teachers are trained in nurturing each individual child's personality type, ability and overall class dynamics.

CLASS TIMES

We have our Teeny Toes My Love & Me class running on a Friday morning 9:30-10:00am at our Hornsby Heights studio and a Saturday morning 9:15-9:45am at our Wahroonga studio. Of course, if this time doesn't work for you, we would be happy to suggest another appropriate class they could try.

CLASS UNIFORM

For this class, no uniform is required, as we find at this age it can be challenging getting them into an outfit at all!!! Therefore they are free to wear anything they feel comfortable in and can move in, along with secure shoes such as sneakers.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ON YOUR 1ST LESSON

When you arrive, we will greet your little one and get down to their level to build a connection with them. After many years of experience, we are able to quickly identify each individual child's personality type and will generally be able to assess what they need in that moment of time.

For some children, what is best for them, is simply sitting and watching for a little bit with their parent until they feel ready to participate. For others, it may be that they are buzzing with energy and ready to join straight in! Each child's needs are different and we will work with you to ensure they feel completely comfortable and ready to participate, in their own time.

All we ask back, is that you work with us and trust our guidance. For some kids (particularly very anxious children) forcing them to join in when they are clearly very upset, will actually have a worsened effect and result in the child becoming very distressed and never wanting to join in again.

We can appreciate that it is incredibly frustrating coming along to a class that they have been looking forward to and then suddenly they don't want to participate... But we can assure you, that your child will get there and within a matter of weeks they will trust us enough to start to join in. This can only happen though when they are gently encouraged and never forced before they are ready.

At the end of their first class, we will gift your child a special present to say thank you for coming along and will provide you with some more information on how to enrol. Over the week we will be in touch, just to answer any questions you may have and provide feedback about their trial.
