MINI STARS

STAGE 1 DANCE JOURNEY

STOP! Are you a parent struggling to spark your child's confidence?

Or on the other hand are you trying desperately to contain some of their extra energy?!

I totally get it. 3 year olds ain't easy and when you got a zillion other things you have to do, it can feel like a constant battle.

You are run off your feet trying to remember every little detail of things coming up. You're lacking sleep; worried about whether your little munchkin will fit in and shake their shyness when they head to school. And on top of that, at home, they are running around like crazy!

You're not alone.

Trust me. I hear this all the time.

So, I decided to devise a preschool dance curriculum that I know works.

A curriculum that I promise, will:

💎

Ignite confidence

and have them smiling and engaging with others

💎

Nurture their imagination and give them a platform to express creativity

💎

Spark gorgeous, supportive friendships, built with love & kindness

💎

Prepare them for big school - we teach beyond the steps with our core values

"Since our daughter has started dance lessons, she loves it and her confidence has grown.” - Celia, mum at Jigsaw

INTRODUCING OUR
MINI GEMS TIPPY TOE COMBO

We know that little ones simply love twirling, leaping and tipping their toes into the magical and imaginative world of Ballet.

We also know that sometimes they have lots of energy and like to run, stomp, jump through the hoops and work as a team with the parachute.

This is why we have devised a unique 40 minute combo class that encompasses all of the magical elements of Ballet, but also adds a sprinkle of Jazz & Hip Hop steps to build their gross motor skills. We finish every lesson off with a mini yoga meditation to help them calm their breath and focus on the present.

After the class, we share a special 5 minute feedback session with the parents to highlight all of the wonderful things they are learning and to celebrate their improvements.

***

This, combined with nurturing and gentle teachers who understand different personality types and needs; is what builds trust and connection within the classroom.

WHEN THERE IS TRUST AND CONNECTION

Your child will feel safe enough to engage and interact with their teacher and peers.

When this happens, you will see the shift, as they run into class with a huge smile on their face; bursting with confidence.

"My daughter is very nervous with new situations, but after the first class she told me to leave the room so she could concentrate. This was an amazing step for our 4 year old and showed the trust and enjoyment the children have with Miss Tash" - Mary, mum at Jigsaw

Over the course of our two-year curriculum
Your little star will learn;

  • The foundations of Ballet, Jazz & Hip Hop technique in a fun and exciting play-based learning setting
  • The correct terminology of many Ballet steps which of course lead into our other styles of dance
  • 4 different routines of which 2 are performed on stage per year
  • How to share, be patient, take turns, use kind words and make positive choices
  • How to count to music and will be exposed to a variety of different musical pieces
  • How to express themselves through dance and creative movement
  • How to actively listen and process complex instructions
  • Tools to help calm the mind and release stress
  • The effect and consequences of certain actions, whether positive or negative
  • Plus so much more!

YOU WILL SIMPLY LOVE:

The flexibility and empathy that we offer - we run the studio from the perspective of a busy, everyday parent and know that sometimes things come up and you need to change class or miss a day - that's cool with us!

The regular, organised communication and transparency - we like to give you information up front so you have ample time to plan and know what to expect from the get go. We also think it's important to keep you informed about your child's progress.

That we run our studio on set core values and believe in providing a happy, fun and exciting place to visit. We are happy to answer questions, we won't yell at your kids and we strive to make it as easy and convenient as possible for you.

The stress-free and relaxed concerts that we put on for your dancer's - no sewing, no tricky hair changes, no pressure on your kids and no need for extra days of rehearsals and technical runs (one day is enough!)

FIRST YEAR PROGRAM

Twinkle Toes (age guide: 3 - 4 yrs old)

SECOND YEAR PROGRAM

Moonstone (age guide: 4 - 5 yrs old)

Don't stress too much about the different age groups - both the Twinkle Toes & Moonstone classes learn the same exceptional program; so the ages are just a guide to understand who is in their first or second year.

Our teachers are trained in nurturing each individual child's personality type, ability and overall class dynamics.

CLASS TIMES

We have our Mini Gems Tippy Toe Combo Class running throughout the week at each of our 3 studio locations. For those that are set on a particular type of dance, we have Ballet & Jazz Funk Hip Hop classes running on a Saturday morning. To see our Term 3 timetable [click here]

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ON YOUR 1ST LESSON

When you arrive, we will greet your little one and get down to their level to build a connection with them. After many years of experience, we are able to quickly identify each individual child's personality type and will generally be able to assess what they need in that moment of time.

For some children, what is best for them, is simply sitting and watching for a little bit with their parent until they feel ready to participate. For others it may be that mum needs to wait outside and watch from the door as they will get too distracted otherwise. Each child's needs are different and we will work with you to ensure they feel completely comfortable and ready to participate, in their own time.

All we ask back, is that you work with us and trust our guidance. For some kids (particularly very anxious children) forcing them to join in when they are clearly very upset, will actually have a worsened effect and result in the child becoming very distressed and never wanting to join in again.

We can appreciate that it is incredibly frustrating coming along to a class that they have been looking forward to and then suddenly they don't want to participate... But we can assure you, that your child will get there and within a matter of weeks they will trust us enough to start to join in. This can only happen though when they are gently encouraged and never forced before they are ready.

Depending on the child, we will usually suggest that parents wait with the other parents outside the room, not only so they can get to know their new dance friends but also so the child can experience the class without getting distracted and so we can see how they respond. Of course, if your child needs you there or becomes upset, we will always come to get you.

At the end of the class, we will gift your child a special present to say thank you for coming along and will provide you with some more information on how to enrol. Over the week we will be in touch, just to answer any questions you may have and provide feedback about their trial.
