23 YEARS OF SERVING HOMELESS FAMILIES & SINGLE WOMEN
|
The ARK celebrates 23 years of providing a home and services for homeless families and single women. The ARK Board of Directors, Staff, and Guests would like to THANK our community for supporting us! We are thankful for our community and we could not continue serving the homeless population without your support.
We have been busy! The ARK has stayed completely full for over a year now. We definitely have seen an influx of people needing our services. At The ARK we are able to house four families and 10-12 single women at one time. We currently have four families- mom, dad, and two children, mom, dad, and one child, a single mom with four children, and a grandmother with her granddaughter. Then on the single hall we currently have 9 single women. That makes a total of 23 people we are housing at The ARK. We see a variety of reasons for our guests needing our services. Regardless of the reason they became homeless, we are here to help them move forward and get back into permanent housing. We have to overcome lots of challenges in order to get our guests to a point of being able to apply for housing. The ARK's staff work hard on helping each guest through each challenge they face. We ultimately want to see everyone succeed, and live a happy, fulfilling life.

As we continue to move forward with the mission of The ARK founders, we continue to make improvements to the house!
- A new commercial stove.
- A vented hood over the stove.
- A carport for the guests to have a sitting area outside that is covered!
- We added new security cameras.
- We bought yoga mats and materials for guests to use in our multi-purpose room.
- The ARK is currently in the process of getting quotes to have our driveway and parking area re-paved!
Just a few things that your donations have been going towards! Then of course our normal bills, helping guests with application fees, and everything else in between to help each guest get back on their feet.
As we all know keeping up a house is not always an easy task. We recently had to buy a new washing machine since our other one completely stopped working. All of our appliances see a lot of activity and do not last long. Weekly we see issues like a clogged sink, a broken shower head, a tile coming up off the floor, or a toilet that won't flush. The ARK works hard to ensure we are providing a safe, clean house for our guests. Without the help of our community and supporters, we would not be able to do all these great things to keep up The ARK.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE! A TESTIMONIAL FROM A FORMER GUEST-
I was in a car wreck about a year ago and it turned my world upside down. I lost my car, job, and housing all within a few months. I came to The Ark with nothing and I was pretty broken, mentally and physically. While at The Ark I kept working towards getting my disability and settlement from my wreck, I applied for school and started in January, and I worked on improving my health! The Ark helped me get to appointments, helped me apply to school and with materials, and listened when I needed someone to talk to. I had to learn to turn 'I can't' into 'I can'. I could not have my own place right now if it wasn't for The Ark. Thank you to all the staff at The Ark, I love my new apartment! - Jennifer Lynn
